Maryland
November 2002

In November 2002, I visited my friend, Mike Hale, in Maryland. I got to meet his lovely girlfriend (now wife!), Carla, and the two of them treated me like a queen. I had some things I really wanted to do and Mike & Carla were so gracious in taking me to the International Spy Museum, the Smithsonian so that I could see the Julia Child Kitchen exhibit and all through the countryside to take some pictures of the autumn leaves. What a terrific trip!

Mike & Carla in front of the International Spy Museum. Definitely a great stop if you're visiting DC!

Phyllis at the Julia Child's exhibit.

Julia Child's kitchen, recreated exactly from her home in Connecticut. The entire kitchen is behind glass, so there's a glare on some of these pictures.

More of Julia's kitchen.

... and more ...

... and more.

Carla and I, with Julia worming her way into the picture.

The Washington Monument at night. Great photo, difficult to shoot. I ended up laying on the ground (amidst the duck doo-doo!) to keep the camera steady. Worth it, though!

A set of columns at the Thomas Jefferson memorial. I just liked the way the spotlights shone through.

Here are just a series of "Autumn in Maryland" pictures.

Mike the Hog. This was just too perfect not to take a picture!

The adorable couple.

An honest-to-goodness covered bridge! You don't see those in California! (That's me sitting next to the bridge.)
